Mood: waiting for wind
31st December 2009
Windsurfing: Pevensey bay
Wind Direction: NE
Wind Stength: light
Surf / Sea State: clean small waves
Air Temperature: 4-5 degrees
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: overcast giving way to sunshine
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Billy no-mates down at Pevensey after canning the idea of a Littlestone trip where the Posse had gone.
Heard from Grawp that it was '5.8m weather at best', while Carter the unstoppable optimist was shouting '5.0m and sweeeet waves'.
Grawps a bit lighter than me, and then Camber Mafia confirmed my interpretation of 6.5m (or bigger) for the lardy boys.
Not worth the trip, despite the opportunity to catch with with the Posse, who I'll not now see until next year ;-)
Headed down to Pevensey Bay for lunchtime to catch an hour or two while the golden ball was glowing brightest (ie - warmest!).
None of the local crew were up for it ..... except Gutted who was housebound playing the responsible adult while his missus was out melting his plastic ;-)
Played safe knowing current would run with the wind, and I'd end up in Eastbourne pretty soon if it lulled on me (and it looked to be switching from 6.5m to 8.5m weather), and promptly rigged the 5.9m Duke.
Nope, hadn't gone completely mad, I plugged it into my Fly 10'0 and set about enjoying an hour or so of float and surf in the waves.
Waves were between knee to chest high, and as wind switched between cross and cross-off they cleaned up nice.
Wind was generally light, though I did get planing a couple of times, but that wasn't what I'd floated out to do.
Caught more waves than I missed. Fell off a couple of times too which wasn't great fun. Forgot to put on any gloves so hands suffered a touch, but other than that I was warm enough in ION Quantum (with fleecy poly-pro rashie under), beanie & Atan summer shoes. Suit is great, as despite a couple of dunkings, and a little rinse in a wave, when I took the rashie off it was bone dry.
Worst bit was coming ashore.
Went to grab board to get out of the water and safely ashore and all the blood rushed back to my hands giving me the hot hands hurty hurty bit just as I actually wanted to use my hands. I'm going to have to cobble some sort of loop from an old leash or something for the back of the Fly, as with no footstraps it's a bugger to get ashore, especially with no feeling in your hands !!
Fun little session, despite being a bit nippy, and that's the Naughties decade done, time for the Tweeny years ;-)
have a good one all you dudes and dudettes
See ya next decade :-)
